Being a CORF certifies that Special Kids is a medical facility that provides outpatient diagnostic, therapeutic, and restorative services at a single fixed location for the rehabilitation of injury, disability, or sickness. This care is commonly known as outpatient rehabilitation care. Referring physicians to Special Kids must draw up treatment plans and review them at least every 60 days.
To maintain our CORF certification, Special Kids is surveyed and reviewed on a regular basis:
At Special Kids, we believe in the power of play—because play is a child’s work.
From the very first therapy session, you’ll see this philosophy in action. Our play-based approach keeps children engaged, motivated, and actively involved in their therapy, helping them retain new skills and reach their goals through meaningful, fun interactions.
Our Physical Therapy team partners closely with families to support each child’s journey toward greater independence. Following a comprehensive evaluation, our licensed therapists develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s specific needs.
Using their advanced training and clinical expertise, our team assesses key areas such as strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and endurance to understand how these impact your child’s ability to move and interact with their environment. When appropriate, we may recommend supportive tools like orthotics, wheelchairs, specialized seating, or other adaptive equipment to help your child thrive.
Is your child having difficulty sitting unassisted? Still not walking independently? Maybe they’re finding gross motor activities, like jumping or negotiating stairs or curbs challenging.
Our Physical Therapy team partners with families to support children at every developmental stage, including:
Our goal is to help each child gain confidence, greater mobility, and increased independence in daily life.
Movement is medicine, and our physical therapy team is dedicated to helping children reach their highest level of movement ability through evidence-based practice, compassion, hard work, and fun! Our team is here to help you promote healthy childhood development and improve independence in your child to assist with participation in their community.
Step 1: Referral
Special Kids is referral-based. When we receive a referral from your provider, that's when the process begins.
Step 2: Intake
The Patient Services Supervisor will call to set up an appointment for the initial evaluation with a therapist. The billing office will work to verify insurance and payment information.
Step 3: Evaluation
One of our therapists will conduct an evaluation with your child to see if therapy is recommended. They will determine how often your child should come for treatment, and then Special Kids will work with you to schedule your regular visits.
